It's 10 o'clock at night, and Jin finds Kame slumped over a table, surrounded by reports and spreadsheets and who knows what else. He flicks a glance around the room; there are three people hunched over a computer on another table, pointing at the screen and arguing among themselves in hushed voices. The room seems bigger now that almost everyone (apart from the workaholic freaks, he thinks, looking pointedly at Kame) have gone for the day. Jin's eyes roam around the mugs of tepid coffee and the banners for the concert, the intense colours looking harsh in the glaring light. He walks over till he's standing right in front of Kame.

"Oi," he says, when Kame makes no effort to acknowledge him. "You planning on sleeping here, too?"

Kame blinks and turns glazed eyes in Jin's vague direction. "Jin?" he asks, his voice groggy and scratchy, "what are you doing here?"

"No," Jin mutters, leaning against the table, "the question is, what are you doing here when you're supposed to be relaxing? At home," he says, feeling the need to specify when he sees the bags under Kame's eyes. Kame pillows his head on the table, seemingly too exhausted to even hold his head up, mumbling something under his breath that Jin can't hear.

"Hey, c'mon." Jin moves forward and starts pulling Kame up. Kame wakes up a bit then, tries to struggle away from Jin's hold, but Jin's having none of it. It doesn't take much, either, Kame's loose-limbed and slow from exhaustion. "No," Kame argues, pushing at Jin. "No. I have to just look over the costumes for the third part, and then see-"

"Later," Jin says firmly, closing the laptop, implacable expression firmly fixed on his face. Kame gives up when Jin starts pointedly shepherding him towards the door, only pausing to take Kame's baseball cap and sunglasses from the table. "You didn't answer me," he grumbles, pulling his arm from Jin's grip. "What are you doing here? It's supposed to be an off day."

"Yeah. Like it is for you too, right?" Jin purses his lips. "I got a call from your mom, she said she had to leave suddenly or something, so she wanted to know if I could pop in and take Ran-chan for a bit."

"Why, what happened?" Kame asks at once. "Is she okay? Did something happen, are my brothers-"

"She didn't say," Jin interrupts, "but she didn't seem to be too worried or anything, so I don't think it's anything serious. You can ask her yourself when you go to meet her tomorrow." Kame opens his mouth to argue, but Jin glares at him. "Because I told her you're free this weekend, and that you're going to have lunch with her tomorrow. Because you are," Jin states, and there's an element of finalty in his tone that makes Kame think twice about arguing with Jin. "She told me where you were, so I figured I might as well take you too, since I'm already taking in your dog for the night."

"It was only supposed to be a few minutes," Kame says hesitantly, after a few minutes of silence. "Half an hour at most, they just wanted to get my opinion on some stuff-"

"It's always like that with you," Jin shrugs as he presses the button for the elevator. "And then next thing you know, it's 4 in the morning, and you'll stumble to some bar and call me to take you back home."

"Shut up, it isn't always like that-"

"So I thought I'd come in earlier, coz I really didn't want to get up at ass o'clock in the morning and get your drunken ass home, either-"

"Fuck you," Kame sniffs. "Fine, then, the next time I'm drunk, I'll call someone else."

Jin shoots him a glare. "This can all be avoided if you'd just stay at home when you're supposed to."

Kame rolls his eyes. "You're such a drama queen, seriously. You don't catch me grumbling when you stay out and party during the weekdays-"

"That's totally different! I enjoy myself then!" Jin shouts heatedly.

"How do you know I'm not enjoying myself now?" Kame shouts back.

Jin grits his teeth as he opens his car door violently. "God, you're impossible." He's promptly bowled over as Ran shoots out of the car and launches herself at Kame. Kame staggers under the momentum of the small dog-missle, but manages to keep his balance. He's already starting to smile at Ran's enthusiastic greeting when he sees Jin on the floor, flat on his butt, with the most outraged expression he's seen on Jin yet. Kame bites his lips and tries to hold in his giggles, but he can't help it. He ends up laughing so hard he has to hold on to the car for support.

Kame's too weak from laughter to object when Jin literally manhandles him into the car, grumbling about idiot workaholics and their insane dogs. He's still grinning when Jin buckles his seatbelt and turns to him, lips turned downward in a disgruntled pout, and can't bring himself to argue when Jin announces that Kame will be treating him for dinner for a week.

---End.
