Yuuta dumped the cardboard box in his room with a groan. He rubbed his left shoulder as he plopped down next to it and took out a stack of books. Settling down, he began to sort through the contents. There were a few manga, some of which he had read, but he kept them all on one side anyway. You could never have too many comics, after all.
Some of the English books looked really hard - reading the titles took him a couple of minutes. He put those aside; he'd ask aniki if he wanted them - his brother was the one who was so enamoured of the English language, after all. Yuuta made a face as he remembered his father lecturing him about being more like his aniki the last time he had come home - Syuusuke had already nearly learned another language when he was your age, and such a useful tool for the future, too, and how much progress was Yuuta making again?
The stray thought led Yuuta to put down the bunch of books a bit harder than usual, glaring down at the English books crossly.
"Yuuuuta, what are you doing up there?" his mother's voice floated up into his room, making Yuuta turn his head back grumpily. "If you want to destroy the house, you could at least warn me so I can go out to Megumi's house beforehand..."
"Hai, hai," Yuuta muttered, turning his head back to the books on his floor. Rolling his eyes, Yuuta started to sort through the box. Honestly, his family was so weird. He must have been switched as a baby at birth, there was no other explanation. He blinked as his hand came into contact with a small book nearly at the bottom of the crate. He took it out, blinking in slight surprise at the brown paper covering the front of the book. That was slightly weird, none of the other books Atsushi-sempai gave him were so... well-kept, for lack of a better word. Yuuta peered curiously at the nondescript book before flipping through the pages impulsively.
There were some black and white pictures on some of the pages. Other than that, it looked just like any... other... book... hey, what was that? Yuuta peered curiously at one of the pictures. What... Yuuta's eyes nearly bugged out of his head as he realized exactly what he was looking at. Yuuta remained frozen for all of two seconds before letting out a yelp and flung the book away, scrambling back, far away from that... thing; his only thought to put as much distance between himself and the book as humanely possible.
Yuuta was still so overwhelmed at what he had just seen that he failed to hear the soft footsteps outside his room or the knocking at his door until his brother opened the door and peeked in curiously, blinking at the rather... odd scene in front of him.
Yuuta was backed up against a wall staring at one corner of his room, his face so red Syuusuke found himself absently wondering if it was possible for someone to spontaneously combust. Hmm, maybe he should find some water just in case.
"Yuuta?" Syuusuke glanced curiously at his brother as Yuuta's gaze snapped to his, raising an eyebrow as Yuuta flushed an even deeper shade of red.
Yuuta flicked his eyes from his brother to the... thing as Syuusuke opened the door wider and let himself in.
"Yuuta, what's wrong?" Syuusuke's voice washed vaguely over Yuuta and he finally tore his gaze back to see his brother's curious gaze as he closed the door after him. Even through his shock, Yuuta found himself realizing that himself + that book + aniki + a closed door = A Very Bad Thing.
"Nothing!" Yuuta's voice sounded abnormally high, even to himself. His brain unhelpfully reminded him that his voice very closely resembled that of the hamster that his class had used in a biology project. He attempted to speak again, making sure to clear his throat before. "It's nothing, aniki! Nothing at all, so you can just... go back to whatever you're doing, okay?" Yuuta hoped he didn't sound as panicked as he felt.
Syuusuke raised his other eyebrow as he regarded Yuuta's poorly hidden alarm. "Nothing, is it?" Blue eyes narrowed speculatively as he looked from Yuuta to the corner his younger brother was trying desperately not to look at. It didn't seem like there was anything ususual, except for the various books that were scattered around the room.
"Yuuta, I didn't realize you had become so studious..." Syuusuke trailed off, looking expectantly back at Yuuta. "Er. No, they're Atsushi-sempai's," Yuuta offered, glad to notice that his voice seemed to be getting back to normal. Slowly. "He was clearing his bookshelf, and he gave some of the ones he didn't want to me."
Syuusuke cocked his head inquisitively as his eyes flicked from Yuuta to the books. "You can take some if you want," Yuuta continued, desperate to get Syuusuke out of the room. "I think you'll like the English ones more than I do..." Yuuta tried, but couldn't stop his gaze from flicking back to the ordinary-looking book lying on the far corner of the room.
Syuusuke made a non-commital sound as he picked up one of the books lying near him. "Hmmm. But Yuuta, you should really take more care of your books, you know." Yuuta cringed as he realized that hee had knocked some of the piles down in his hurry to get that dratted thing off his hands. "Er, yes. I'll be more careful."
"Since you're being so nice to me, I think I'll help you pick them up," Syuusuke smiled at Yuuta and bent down and started picking the fallen books down. Yuuta's eyes widened. "NO!!" Syuusuke stopped short as Yuuta stood up halfway, nearly knocking down another pile of books in his haste, then freezing as aniki's eyes snapped open and those impossibly blue eyes focused on him. "I mean," Yuuta floundered as Syuusuke slowly straightened up, narrowed, blue eyes fixed on his. "I can do it! You don't need to trouble yourself, aniki. Really."
Syuusuke said nothing, just looked at him. "Yuuuuuuuuta?" Yuuta fought the urge to shudder as Syuusuke drawled his name out slowly and suggestively. "Um, yes?" asked Yuuta, biting his lip in nervousness. He couldn't help it, there was something in the way aniki's eyes glinted...
"Just what are you hiding?"
Yuuta's cheeks flushed at Syuusuke's amused voice, automatically yelping out a weak "Nothing!" as the amusement colouring Syuusuke's eyes deepened.
Yuuta sweated as Syuusuke gazed contemplatively at him, then started walking towards the other side of the room. The part of the room where, Yuuta suddenly thought with an inner jolt of alarm, that the book was lying innocently, yet completely open to anyone's gaze.
"Nothing, is it? Are you sure?" Syuusuke enquired thoughtfully, peeking narrow-eyed at Yuuta as he stopped right in front of the solitary, unremarkable book. "So you won't mind if I look through this, then?" Yuuta blanched. Dammit, how did he know??
Yuuta clapped a hand over his eyes and resisted the urge to whimper unmanfully, slumping in place and flushing in spite of his best efforts (darn his stupid genes) as he heard the rustle of pages.
There was a silence in which Yuuta refused to look up and wished desperately that he was anywhere but here, in between having mental visions of strangling Atsushi-sempai with his own stupid, red ribbon.
"Yuuuuuuuuuuta!" Syuusuke's delighted voice failed to reassure him on any level, so he remained where he was, trying to curl himself into a tiny ball and maintaining happy visions of killing Atsushi-sempai because anything, anything was better than looking at aniki now.
"Yuuuuta, I had no idea you were into such... literature!" Yuuta snapped his head up. "I am not!" He glared up at Syuusuke, even though he could feel every cell in his body blushing a deep, deep red. "And it's Atsushi-sempai's anyway, so I should give it back to him!"
"Oh, Yuuta, Yuuta." Syuusuke's eyes were dancing as he glanced back at Yuuta. "Surely there was a reason he gave you this -- as a helpful sempai, he must have felt that you could use some help--"
"I do not!!!" Yuuta interrupted furiously, cheeks blazing red. "And what would he know, anyway?"
"You don't?" Syuusuke teased, walking up to Yuuta and gracefully settling himself next to Yuuta. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure," Yuuta muttered irritably, eyes widening as he realized that Syuusuke was sitting right beside him and was pushing the open book right in front of him. "I don't want to see it!" Yuuta maintained stoutly, leaning away from Syuusuke, horrified grey eyes clashing with laughing blue.
"But Yuuuuta, think of what you could learn..." Syuusuke murmured, inching closer and sliding his arm around Yuuta's waist; not seeming to mind that Yuuta was as tense as a taut string.
"I don't want to learn anything from that," Yuuta declared flatly and he most certainly did not shiver as aniki laughed silkily near his ear.
"But Yuuuuta," sighed his brother in response, and this time Yuuta did shiver at the feathery puffs of breath tickling the sensitive spots on his neck. "Just think of how far your horizons could be expanded..."
"My horizons..." Yuuta started, and then had to bite his lip to prevent a moan from escaping his mouth as aniki started nipping and licking at the skin just under his ear. "...are just fine where they are, thanks."
Yuuta could not prevent himself from leaning back against aniki as he felt a velvety laugh vibrating against his skin. "Really, Yuuta, so unadventurous," Syuusuke teased, even as his arms tightened around Yuuta, chin resting on Yuuta's shoulder.
Yuuta grumbled as he settled more comfortably against aniki, turning his head to glower at the other boy. "I mean it, though." Yuuta wasn't fooled by aniki's innocent look. Not when he knew what kind of a devious mind lurked behind that unassuming exterior. "I don't want to see that book ever again," Yuuta stated, Syuusuke sighing regretfully and nodding. Yuuta looked suspiciously at him - aniki never gave up this soon when there was something he wanted... he snorted as aniki flashed his perpetual smile at him, letting go of some of his wariness and letting himself relax a little more.
The room was filled with a comfortable silence for all of one minute before Syuusuke spoke again. "Yuuta, are you quite sure--"
"Yes," Yuuta interrupted forcefully, twisting his head back. "Baka aniki, didn't I already tell you--" This time, it was Yuuta who was cut short as Syuusuke placed a hand on the back of his head and closed the small gap between their lips. When they finally broke apart, Yuuta's eyes were glazed over, his lips swollen, his head was swimming and the most logical step he could think of was to lean his head back against aniki's shoulder for a while till he could regain his bearings. Being a sensible sort of boy, that was exactly what he did do.
"Ne, Yuuta," Syuusuke started, hands playing with the edges of Yuuta's t-shirt. Yuuta made an encouraging sort of noise. Syuusuke carefully hid a smile. "Do you mind if I took that book too, along with some of the English ones?"
"Mmmn, 'kay," Yuuta responded, eyes closed. ...Wait, what???
Yuuta slowly opened his eyes and gaped at Syuusuke, who wore his most angelic expression on his face. They stared at each other for a few more moments before Yuuta groaned, slumping back against his brother. "Dammit, why do I even bother," he grumbled, pointedly not looking at his brother. "Why, Yuuta," Syuusuke asked, honey dripping from his voice. "Whatever do you mean?" Yuuta rolled his eyes. That innocent tone could fool nobody who knew Fuji Syuusuke. "Save it," he muttered, still not looking at his brother. "Does that mean I can have it?" Syuusuke persisted, till Yuuta glared at him in exasperation. "Fine, take it, do whatever you want with it, all right?"
"Ohhh, Yuuta, thank you!" Syuusuke sounded delighted as he hugged him from behind. "Pervert," muttered Yuuta sourly. Syuusuke did not seem to have heard him. "I've always wanted to get a copy of the Kama Sutra, you know," he continued as he beamed at Yuuta, who was still not looking at him. "Stop pouting, Yuuuuta, it makes me want to kiss you all the more." Syuusuke laughed as he affectionately ruffled his brother's hair, earning a protest from him. Yuuta sulked as he went back to glaring at the table. "I am not pouting, dammit!"
"Sure, whatever you say, Yuu-chan."
Yuuta growled as he whipped his head back to glare at his smirking brother. "And I don't want to see that thing ever again, all right?"
"Hai, hai," Syuusuke chuckled as Yuuta glared harder at him. "Aniki, I mean it!" Yuuta stared at his brother in frustration.
"Don't worry, Yuuta," Syuusuke murmured, stealing a kiss and dodging a half-hearted punch from a cross Yuuta. "I'll make sure your virgin eyes don't get anywhere near it again."
This time Yuuta really did punch Syuusuke. Hard.
