Kame whirls around at the sudden slam of the door, his heartbeats so loud that they seem to overwhelm everything else. Well, almost everything else, he amends, as Jin stalks into the room, bangs the the door shut and proceeds to glare at him.
Kame really wishes he is capable of speaking right then. As it happens, all he can do is sort of stagger weakly onto the nearby chair and slide down on it, clutching his chest.
"Kamenashi."
Jin is still glaring, his lips thinned and unhappy. Kame frowns at the unusually stiff tone and attempts to get his throat to work. He is successful on the third try, to his great relief.
"Jin. It is two in the morning, why aren't you in your room with Ue-"
"Where is he?" Jin hisses, glancing back and forth and ignoring Kame completely.
"Who?" Kame asks, peering at the other boy.
"Him," Jin says, pointing in the vague direction of the second bed. "Your best friend."
"What?" Kame is bewildered. "What are you talking about-"
"Pi told me you chose him because you wanted stability," Jin responds, spitting out the word like it was obscene. "How could you, Kame, he hasn't even finished paying off his loan for his family's house!"
Kame tilts his head. So Jin is angry at Koki? "I think what Koki is doing for his family is very admirable, actually," he starts, but realizes it's the wrong thing to say when Jin bristles like an angry cat. He stares when Jin stalks forward and slams some papers down on his lap.
"Here."
Kame looks up, completely lost, and feels a headache developing when he stares into Jin's angry face. "What is-"
"Land."
Kame shuts his mouth, looks at the papers, then looks back at Jin. "Land," he repeats, feeling unusually stupid. He wonders if this is how Jin feels all the time, then is promptly ashamed at himself for thinking it.
"Land," Jin mutters, and turns away. "Because investing is important, and respectable and like, stable."
Kame frowns. "Er, well. Good for you," he says, feeling like he should show his support at an obviously important time for Jin.
"You fucker, how can you say that," Jin bursts out, whirling around to point accusingly at Kame. "I had to sell my PS3 and my guitar for it, you insensitive bastard."
---End.
